Quarters — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-07-15

This privacy policy describes how the Quarters iOS app (“the App”) collects, uses, and shares your information.

Information we collect

When you sign in to the App with your Apple ID, we receive:

  • A unique user identifier from Sign in with Apple, which we use to create your Quarters account (a Supabase auth ID and a household member ID) — we never receive your raw Apple ID or password.
  • Your email address (only if you choose to share it during sign-in).
  • The display name you type when creating or joining a household.

When you use the App, we collect:

  • Photos you upload as cleaning task proof or as chat attachments.
  • The profile picture you optionally upload.
  • Messages you send to other members of your household.
  • Bills, rotation schedules, and household membership data you create.
  • A push-notification device token, so we can deliver alerts to your phone.
  • Your device’s timezone, so reminders and quiet hours land at the right local time.
  • If you subscribe to Quarters Pro (when this feature is available in your version of the App): a purchase transaction ID linked to your account, so we can verify your household’s subscription. Apple, not Quarters, handles your payment card — we never see or store it.
  • If AI-powered features become available (not live in the App today): we’ll describe exactly what’s shared — for example, message or task content sent to a third-party AI provider to generate a summary — before that feature ships, and it will only apply to accounts that use it.

We do not collect:

  • Location data.
  • Contacts, calendars, microphone, or other system data outside what you explicitly grant in iOS Settings.

Analytics and crash reporting

  • We use first-party analytics — counts of events like “opened a bill” or “completed a chore,” tied to your account, stored on our own infrastructure. We use this to understand which parts of the App are useful, not to build a profile of you for anyone outside Quarters.
  • We use Sentry for crash reporting. Crash reports are not linked to your identity, and personal information is scrubbed before a report leaves your device.
  • We run no advertising or tracking SDKs. The App does not use Apple’s App Tracking Transparency framework, because we don’t track you across other companies’ apps or websites, and we don’t sell or share your data for advertising.

How we use your information

  • To operate the App: route messages, render rotations, send push reminders.
  • To authenticate you and authorize you to access your household’s data.
  • To deliver photos to your roommates and back to you when needed.
  • To verify and maintain a Quarters Pro subscription, if you or a household member has purchased one.

We do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Data storage and security

Your data is stored on Supabase infrastructure (Postgres database, encrypted storage buckets) hosted in the AWS us-west-1 region. Row-level security policies enforce that only members of your household can read or write your household’s data.

Your choices

  • Account deletion. You can permanently delete your account from inside the App: tap your avatar → Delete account. This immediately and permanently deletes your authentication record, your member entry in any household, your push tokens, and any messages, cleaning completions, bill shares, or rotation completions you created. Photos you uploaded remain only as orphan storage objects; we run a periodic cleanup but cannot guarantee instant erasure of every blob. Deletion cannot be undone.
  • Notifications. Toggle off in iOS Settings → Notifications → Quarters at any time.
  • Photo permissions. Toggle off in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos → Quarters.
  • Subscriptions. If you’ve subscribed to Quarters Pro, manage or cancel it anytime in iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions. Deleting your Quarters account does not cancel an active Apple subscription — cancel it separately.

Children

The App is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated in an in-app notice.
